meet the Author

Acy Day owns and operates DillyBean Books publishing company from her modest home in Alabama. She lives with her hubby, three dogs, three chickens, and way too many cats to count. She enjoys writing and designing fun stories with vibrant characters. Her illustrations include a variety of mediums including paper, glue, watercolors, pencils, and digital graphics.

Acy gathers inspiration from family, friends, flowers, bugs, trees, rocks, rivers, and even mud puddles. When she’s not writing standalone picture books about everyday adventures, Acy is quietly developing a multi-part series exploring how nature, weather, and wildlife interlock.

Before writing for children, Acy worked in the Head Start program. One chilly morning during story time, a child yelled, “Hey, that’s like me!” That’s the moment Acy realized how powerful picture books are at helping young readers feel seen and understood, a realization that shapes the way she approaches storytelling today.

Although Acy holds degrees in Child Development and Behavioral Science, she prefers to spend her time writing for young children and growing in her understanding of children’s book illustration, design, and publication.
